Welcome to the Access community at First United Methodist Church Richardson! My name’s Rich. I’m the lead pastor for Access, and I’m really glad you’ve found us.
We’re in an exciting time of transition! We just concluded 6 years of afternoon worship services, and at the end of January 2017 we’ll begin morning worship services in brand-new facilities. Between now and then the Access community will gather several times a month for worship, family-friendly community service projects, social events, and more. Check out what’s next on our upcoming events page and please join us!
The Access community exists to connect people to each other and to God for the sake of our community. Our school partnerships are a great example of how we do this and something that makes Access kind of unique.
We’re also a little unique in how we worship God. In addition to sound Biblical preaching and great modern Christian music, our worship services over the last 6 years have included things like assembling gift bags for homeless persons, writing notes of appreciation to teachers and staff at our partner elementary school, and texting questions to Julie and me for a live Q&A after our sermon. That tradition of unique worship will continue!
Finally, I need to tell you that we’re a bit of a mess. When you hear Julie and me preach we’re going to tell you about how we’ve failed to be the people God wants us to be and how we have doubts and questions about God. When our congregation members text prayer requests for us to read during worship, you’ll learn about messiness in relationships, addictions, finances, spiritual lives, and more. We’ve discovered that when we’re open about our messy lives it’s more difficult to be preachy and judgmental, and we think that’s a good thing.
Please explore our website and join us soon for one of our events. I look forward to meeting you!
