Welcome to the Access community at First United Methodist Church Richardson! My name’s Rich Rindfuss. I’m a pastor to the Access community along with Julie Klossner, and we’re both really glad you’ve found us.
The Access community exists to connect people to each other and to God for the sake of our community. Our school partnerships are a great example of how we do this and something that makes Access kind of unique.
We’re also a little unique in how we worship God. At any given worship service, in addition to elements common to many churches like sound Biblical preaching and great modern Christian music, you might also find yourself assembling gift bags for homeless persons or texting questions to Julie and me for a live Q&A after our sermon. We try to infuse Access worship with participatory and occasionally unexpected elements.
Finally, I need to tell you that we’re a bit of a mess. When you hear Julie and me preach we’re going to tell you about how we’ve failed to be the people God wants us to be and how we have doubts and questions about God. When our congregation members text prayer requests for us to read during worship, you’ll learn about messiness in relationships, addictions, finances, spiritual lives, and more. We’ve discovered that when we’re open about our messy lives it’s more difficult to be preachy and judgmental, and we think that’s a good thing.
